This winter, The Queen’s House Ice Rink in Greenwich is going greener than ever, thanks to a new partnership with Octopus Energy, the UK’s largest clean energy supplier. As the official partner of The Queen’s House rink, Octopus is helping to power the season’s festivities with renewable energy and community spirit.
Clean, Green, and Full of Cheer
With sustainability at the heart of the event, Octopus Energy is bringing its innovative approach to Greenwich by supporting both the rink’s operations and its community programme, ensuring the magic of ice skating is powered responsibly.
As part of the partnership, Octopus Energy customers can also enjoy 2-for-1 skating sessions through the Octoplus rewards scheme – the perfect excuse to glide into the festive season with a friend.
Powering Community Joy
The Queen’s House rink will once again open its doors to the local community through a dedicated programme supported by Octopus Energy. Together, they’ll be working with over 100 community partners, giving more than 5,000 people the chance to experience the rink for free or at a reduced rate.
Octopus will also invite young players from its ‘Kits for Kids’ initiative, which has already distributed over 27,000 free football kits to grassroots teams across the UK, to enjoy free skating sessions right here in Greenwich.
A Partnership with Purpose
Rebecca Dibb-Simkin, Chief Product and Marketing Officer at Octopus Energy, said:
“We’re thrilled to be powering The Queen’s House Ice Rink this Christmas. Onshore wind and renewable energy are the future — and what better way to celebrate than by helping light up one of London’s most beautiful festive attractions. It’s a brilliant way to show that clean energy can be fun, fast, and full of community spirit.”
Sustainability at the Heart of the Season
Rob Derry, Director at Tamarisk Events, which manages The Queen’s House rink, added:
“Sustainability drives everything we do. Partnering with Octopus Energy helps us not only reduce the environmental footprint of our rink but also extend the joy of skating to more people across the community. It’s a partnership that truly makes a difference.”
